Day 138

Argh! I can't believe I forgot yesterday's post. Well, I can. It was a very low energy, but very busy day. I was getting ready for the big exciting day today! This morning was the big reveal of my Living Social deal! http://www.livingsocial.com/cities/27-seattle/deals/322128-25-to-spend-on-henna As of this posting, I've sold 87, but also have only had 3 actual bookings, 2 email questions, and one phone call. Lots of them are people buying one for themselves and one (or two) for their friends. I'm exhausted. All the tension and excitement and waiting...

Day 137

Oh shit. I forgot to post yesterday!

Day 136

I took a couple photos of myself today with a woman who's been a repeat customer for years...I did her henna for free, and took these photos with the camera 10 second timer on a tripod. :)
Then, I used them in my new promo signs for the booth!

Day 135

Huh, this one didn't post last night.

Holy crap! When this thing finally blooms in the next week, it's going to be spectacular!!!

Day 131

I'm glad I have photos still from this weekend, today was a feeling-horrible-and-godawful kind of day. The side of the second bed I finished this weekend.
And now, the photos from the train. Heck yea.

I started the color part of the murals on my mother's vegetable beds. I'm SO happy with how they're turning out!!
Obligatory beauty shot.

Day 128

Today I took the train to Olympia! It was absolutely gorgeous!!!

Day 127

For the past two days I've been feeling like my body is in permanent flight mode. As if I'm waiting for the other shoe, waiting for the bad news, the ugly phone call. My heart keeps beating fast, my dreams are horrid, I can't sleep and I'm nervous. It's extra prevalent at harborview, although as far as I know there isn't any big bad news coming my way...but then, maybe...

I spent time at my shop this afternoon, but I don't have any photos to show for it, even though I got a good amount of work done. I'm going to go to bed early to try to jump-start my sleep for tonight. Tomorrow I have so much going on including hennaing an expectant mother of twins, seeing Ed to have him help my foot, and riding a train to go visit my folks!

So this weekend I'll make up for the lack of interesting blogging these past couple days. I promise.

Day 126

Nothing much to report today. I didn't have any motivation for anything this afternoon, spent a good amount of time in bed. But then Dan and I went out for dinner and spent the entire dinner talking about revisions for the website, and that felt really good! I have so much coming up in the next few months that I kind of don't feel bad about taking an afternoon to wallow in a funk. I won't have time for that soon enough.

Day 123

Today was a day of lots of cooking! I made tomato sauce and gluten free crusts for my Pizza Pies for Prashanthi's Pie Party. I also made a set of Brazilian Paobread which didn't exactly work out as planned but with a little more practice I should be a pro. Chelsea and I went out in the yard, and aside from all this...nothing else happened. It was a relaxing in the kitchen kind of day.

Day 122

Today was so lovely! Between the sun and the awesome clients, I had such a great day. It was capped by a birthday party of 6 really fabulous 16 year old girls who were all so nice! We had a blast, and they were all very impressed with their hennas. I love being a henna artist!

Day 121

I went to accupuncture this morning and she helped both my hand and my foot, awesome! Then I went to the shop, had *another* no-show, but I wasn't at all surprised (I figured as much, over the phone.) But while I was still hanging out at the shop working on various things, a woman came in and said "I'm a fan of yours on Facebook, and have been so impressed with your work! I come to the Latona Pub often with my husband, and this time you were here, so I just *had* to come in and say hi!" Then, she pulled out a notebook and showed me the doodles she's done inspired by my paintings, and it was so touching! I inspire people!!! :)

After work, I met with Dan and some of his co-workers at the Big Time, where Dan got happily sloshed. After that we went to Makeda, where he became incredibly talkative, and expressed his desire to not only have a baby, but to start NOW. He knows why we're waiting just a bit longer, but he's actually excited now. And blames much of that on Charlie, and who can blame him?? :)

This is what I doodled on myself while hanging around the shop.

Day 120

We did it.

Today I took my dad to his last clinic appointment at SCCA. They had bunches of packets of paperwork for him to give to his "regular" oncologist/general practitioner.

The blood clot he had developed as a result of the access ports has gone down (although it will take years to dissolve...this happened last time too.) The CT scan of his lungs show that the artifact from his infection at the beginning of the year is also reducing, which is very good news.

His blood counts are about the same this week as the last time. Let me go into a little detail about where he stands with this right now. According to the doctors (and I'm getting this info second hand, so I'm a little sketchy about it) he has 100% engraftment in his bone marrow of Eric's cells. Yippee! Excellent news! That said, he has 65% T-cell engraftment. This was the number they were unhappy with when it dipped down to 35% before. It has been steadily growing, so they're satisfied. The latest doctor my dad saw said he's had people 5 years out from their transplant with only 25% t-cell, and they're doing fine. So....so there?

Anyway, tomorrow my parents are going to my dad's regular doc, to transfer back over into his care. They're also looking to see if they can find someone competent down in Olympia (smart move.)

Today I left work early to take my dad in to his clinic appointment, then we went for lunch, ran some errands, and went back to SCCA to get his hickman port removed (yank!). Then this evening my mom and Dan came home, we had a toast, then went out for burgers.

So...that's that! We did it! WE DID IT!!!

Day 118

This afternoon I had an exciting meeting discussing a new business venture which I will reveal more about after I have more things ironed out.

This evening, I sang the "Zoom Song" probably 50 times. And loved every moment of it.

Also, I was informed about boogers, elbows, showers, ravioli, bunnies and "Awesommmmme".

Day 117

Today out of the blue a poem admitted itself into my consciousness unbidden, and I was then sitting on the side of the road scratching it out on the back of a free henna flier. Poem is below the photos.

Also, Chelsea and I spent a good half hour out in the back yard. It was heaven.

This Easter

Surprise did not hide
In the adorned basket of a rabbit
Nor in the brightly hued
Shells of plastic eggs
Joy and wonder were equally
Not delivered in the arms
Of an earth bound god

Rather,
On the gust of a sun warmed draft
Fueled by now awakened moths
Opening their powdery wings to the heat
Only to be snatched up in the
Giddy, hungry dance of the new arrivals

The swallows who breezed in, this Easter morning
Celebrating the maiden day of spring
Calling her by name
Thanking her personally
For the revival, for the
Abundance yet to come

Day 116

Today was the wrap up to a lovely weekend. We did more farm work, had a waffle and omelette breakfast, had Thai for dinner, and enjoyed each others company and the farms quiet beauty all day. Now it's back to the work week. Sigh.

Day 115

So today was my mother's birthday! She was greeted with gifts in the morning...

And here are photos of what she was opening - the fish was commissioned by my dad, the chestnut tree by Dan.

The morning was very cold - aside from the fact that there was frost on the field, the heat pump went out around 1am and it was veeerrry chilly when we got up. The heating guy came and fixed it free of charge!

Frost on the field

A little perspective - the car is about halfway down the line of trees.

I tried dying eggs with silk ties! It worked out with the ties - I also tried it with a big silk scarf, but that one didn't work at all, even though the pattern was awesome, the dye didn't release onto the eggs.

My mom bought a quilt from her neighbor. It's gorgeous!

Day 114

Oh crap! I forgot to post last night! I'll make it up with tonight's post.

Day 112

The two hennas at the shop today...I really felt like doing fill and more fill and frilly and fill and more lacy bits. (they just said "here's our money...do whatever you want." My favorite kind of client.)

Today was highlighted by a visit with Mr. Charlie - the first time I've seen him in a couple MONTHS! The whole Legg family has been off and on sick and I can't be around sick babies, so we had to wait until they were in the clear. I didn't get a single photo of him. We were too busy talking about kitties, numbers and ReadySetGoooooooo!!!

I'll be babysitting him next Tuesday. I promise to get LOADS of photos then.
